In the second quarter of 2024, the Music and Podcasts category on Android has seen variable performance across the board. The data, graciously provided by Sensor Tower, offers us a glimpse into the trends of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users for these applications.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts showed a steady revenue increase over the quarter, peaking at $47K in late April before descending to around $33K by the end of June. Downloads fluctuated slightly, with a high of 1.6M early in the quarter and a similar peak at the end. Weekly active users started at 879K, rose to 890K, then tapered off to 870K.

Podimo - Podcasts & Audiobooks experienced a more erratic revenue trend, starting at $6.5K and reaching a high of nearly $9K in mid-June. Downloads saw a dip in early May to 880K, followed by a recovery to just over 1M by the quarter's end. Active user counts began at 5.2K and ended slightly lower at 4.7K.

The revenue for Deezer: Music & Podcast Player remained fairly consistent, ranging from $1.2K to $1.5K. Downloads were modest, hovering around the 100 mark, and active users demonstrated a similar stability, starting at 12K and ending at 11K.

SoundCloud: Play Music & Songs saw its revenue grow from $759 to $985 by the end of June. Their downloads maintained a steady pace, with a slight decline towards the end of the quarter. Weekly active users presented a small but steady decline from 136K to 136K.

Lastly, Apple Music on Android displayed a fluctuating revenue pattern, beginning at $706 and reaching $859 in late April, followed by a dip to $714 by June's end. Downloads showed a peak of 295K in mid-April, with a decline towards the quarter's end. The active user base saw a peak of 9.6K in mid-April and ended at 8.8K.
